A steady diet of content will help your website grow.
Feeding your website content enriches the meal for search engines. And happy search engines, fed regularly, move your website to the top of their search rankings. The time you spend doesn’t have to be complicated or overly involved, but it does need to happen on a steady and consistent basis if you want your website to be the first a potential client sees.
Ian Watt likes to say “if you don’t spend time on your website, neither will anyone else”.
So, let’s talk about blogging.
Just like everything in this email series, blogging isn’t as complicated or time consuming or difficult as it sounds. Remember that “you” doesn’t have to personally be you – it can be someone under your guidance. Delegation and outsourcing are wonderful things for busy Realtors!
The blog is a magical place where you can post useful information for your prospects without cluttering more targeted pages of your website.
Each blog post will fatten up your website, creating a juicier meal for search engines.
As Realtors, you’ve got hundreds of reciprocity listings to refer to. Pick one, create a snack-sized article about an aspect of the property, then link the post to your listings. (Link to the listings page, not the listing itself, so the link won’t break when the listing sells and is no longer available.) And repeat.
If you make your blog posts keyword rich, search engines will gobble them up!
This is why it’s important to optimize every blog post just like you did when you did your Basic SEO (step 7). You can blog listings, commentary on and links to articles, personal anecdotes or any topic that relates to your website niche to feed your website daily, three times a week, once a week – the key is actually producing and posting relevant content regularly.
The lower your website ranking is on Google, the more often you should be posting blogs.
Search engines are greedy, hungry things and when they see you offering regular meals and that you’ve got MORE rich and delicious information relating to your website’s area of expertise, they’ll reward you.
If a regular schedule is overwhelming with your current workload, don’t hesitate to outsource. You can hire a blogger from $5 to $50+ per article.
Get into a habit of posting at least one blog post each week, no matter who writes it or what your website ranking. Something as simple as mentioning the latest trend or a popular listing will make your website far more appetizing to Google than other Realtor websites that don’t feed the beast regularly!
