No matter how many years you’ve had your website, it’s perfectly possible that you’ve never looked at how many people visit your site each month, or, more importantly, how they found you.
The best advice you’ll get from me is to install an analytics tracking code EVEN IF YOU DON’T CARE about your website stats (right now).
Installing an analytics tracking code will collect website data to let you know:
- Who is visiting your site
- How long they’re staying on your site
- How many pages they’re visiting
- Which pages are most popular
- How they are finding your website (Google? Clicking links?)
- Which search words on Google they typed in and then clicked through to your site
Imagine the validation of seeing your target audience reading your niche website.
Still skeptical? Consider this scenario: you’ve created a niche website, installed the analytics code. Three months in, you take a peek at the findings. You find your readers are coming from the neighbourhood next door – they likely want to move into your target community! Or you see that readers are eating up all that good advice on your blog. Or maybe that not as many people are sticking around to read your “For Sellers” page.
The beauty of the tracking installation is that it’s something you do only once, and then it will simply collect data until you, or someone you give access to, wants to look at it.
So, just take my (very good) advice, install Google Analytics tracking on your website, and we can talk again when you’re ready to use that information.
