I received an interesting email today from a company that sells websites to real estate agents. I find the use of our logo in their marketing material interesting, but even more interesting is how they choose to compare their system to ours. Strictly price based, and for the most part incorrect. The below image is what they have sent out:
MyRealPage is choosing to use pricing as their tool of comparison but what I find interesting is that they claim that their service is the exact same as ours and that their websites include these services at no extra charge. I would suggest that anyone interested in looking at our services take our system for a test drive. You can signup on our website and have your website ready in 90 seconds, plus you get the first 30 days free.
The above image is incorrect in a few ways. First, some of those items are just plain wrong. The ability to change the masthead and banners is included in every website for NO extra charge. Secondly, are they really saying that the SEO enhancement that we offer for $495 is free on their system? Really? I don’t think so. Thirdly, adding pages to your website is included in your site, it just depends on which plan your on. One of our plans gives you the ability to add 20 additional pages to your website as no charge. That 20 is over and above the 10 pages that the site comes with and does NOT include listings or blog posts as pages.
I’m very confident in our system. It is head and shoulders above our competitor(s) and has excellent search engine optimization features that are second to none. We lead, our competitors follow.
Are you interested in what makes us unique and ahead of the pack?
– our system has the CSS unlocked so that any designer can manipulate the look and feel of your website
– even without our SEO enhancement our websites do extremely well within the search engines
– we do not lock clients into a contract
– we do not charge a setup fee
– we offer you the ability to try our system for free so that you know exactly what your getting
– we are on the pulse of real estate marketing across North America
– instant live help
– constant improvement to the Ubertor system
– in page SEO features that automatically update (title tags, sitemaps, etc) [w/o the enhancement enabled – it gets even better with the enhancement enabled]
– video support built into ever listing
– blog built into every website
– plus much more
There are tons of features that our system offers. The big question is, what do you need?
I will end this post with this… Ubertor’s realtor website software system follows Google’s Webmaster Guidelines to ensure your success within the search engines. Does your current supplier?
If you have any questions about your website, Ubertor’s services or anything at all, feel free to contact us. You can add your comments to this post, connect to our live help, or phone us.

@ Ron – I agree. I have been getting emails from competitors through our clients for a while and have not posted about it. I figured that it is time.
Thanks

Always weird for a company to try and rip into another company.
A solid company does not need to compare to a competitor, it justs shows its benefits.
Too bad myrealpage… sounds like your the weaker player.

Boo. comparing by price….. hmm, sounds like myRealPage has some issues.
3/29/2008 at 7:08 am
yes Real Page has some Real issues…..when one has to stoop to this level to get clients, that doesn’t say much for their own confidence in what they are offering. It also usually backfires and I am sure that this ad campaign has hurt them a lot more than it has helped-everytime they send one of these out, it provides a reminder of why it does not make sense to do business with them……

Never heard of myrealpage.com. will check them out

I wouldn’t be concerned about this type of behaviour….. if your product truly attends to your customer’s needs and you remain responsive to their requests for changes to your offering, you’ll win every time. I echo the comments above, too.
Also, by staying true to your brand and harnessing the ‘new marketing’, which you’re obviously doing by regularly blogging, you ought to stay ahead of the pack – keep up the good work!
Burn your TV….. go do a blog post!

A web geek’s perspective: when I decided I no longer wanted to code my own website and do S.E.O. myself last year (it was just taking up too much time), I looked at all the different packages out there. MyRealPage lost out because, among other things, all its sites look the same. They may have “hundreds of different templates” but they all look exactly the same, which is what you get from many pre-packaged REALTOR® websites. Ubertor struck me as something different, and fully customizable.
After reviewing this and all the other features Ubertor offers, and looking at probably 50 different Ubertor-based sites, it was a no-brainer. I’m very happy with the functionality out-of-the-box, and the increased SEO potential and customization for advanced users is second-to-none.
Keep up the great work, love to see all the new features coming out.
Cheers,

There is no comparison, I do not think the service could match. Ubertor service is Uberific
Send more Canadians, down here to the beach.

I’m an Ubertor customer and I have used RealPage while setting up for another Realtor®. They tried to win me over and I said I wouldn’t switch if they paid me. In my opinion, the sites don’t operate or look the same. I feel I get quality from Ubertor and I like the control panel better. I have had many compliments on my website and plan to keep it. You get what you pay for right? Thanks Ubertor.

@ Jim – Thanks Jim. Glad you like it. And I think your going to start seeing lots of Canadians coming down south. 🙂
@ Colleen – Great to hear you love your site!

MyRealPage.com ruined things for me when their (overly pushy) sales rep told a client that Ubertor was like a unicycle, while MyRealPage was like a Cadillac.
I don’t appreciate business that’s done on those terms (ie. bashing your competitor), and told him so.
I strongly feel that the more they put down the competition in their push to gain clients, the weaker their product must be. It’s a shame to see anyone stoop to that level.

I have tried most of the Realtor Website providers and Ubertor is by far the best. I have tried my canned company site (stinks) as well as Real Page. The thing is, I had intentions to customize my own website and as I got busier in my business, it fell by the wayside. Ubertor is the only Realtor website provider that can be customized with ease, even when watching a hockey game. I must say that the hundreds of people that I have talked with say my site is so easy to navigate in and I don’t have all those “free reports” that are so out of date. People want to see HOMES and want stats and that is what I give them with Ubertor. I love the control panel and Ubertor live help is awesome. You are a keeper.

I agree with Dara. Their guy in Vancouver is funny the way he trashes Ubertor. Hmm, wonder why he feels the need to do that.

Totally disagree with everyone rippin into MyRealPage.. they are educating people about their brands value proposition. Its not slimy or underhanded. If they are misrepresenting the pricing of Ubertor thats one thing. But merely to state the facts.. thats down right honest! 🙂
6/28/2008 at 6:38 am
@ Irvin – facts would be a good start for them. As stated the above is incorrect, plus the use of our logo in their material is interesting.
