A few months ago I wrote about Google’s new feature in their Google Maps product that allows you to create your own custom map. A few of our clients have taken this opportunity to create a map for their website that breaks down their niche market area. Here are 2 examples of what can be done with this Google feature.

How effective are these types of maps in real estate? Websites such as Trulia are built around them, but
is this the preferrance the customers have, when it comes to organizing their search results
(vs. list)?

We have found that real estate agents like them as it helps them show clients (or potential clients) where things are in respect to their listing. It is a great way to show the neighborhood.

I’m not sure how effective the google maps are for web ranking etc. but I put one on my http://www.ianwatt.ca website outlining the 4
major search areas of Downtown, Vancouver – False Creek North, Downtown, Coal Harbour and the West End – and my clients
find it pretty useful. Ian

Helpful info. Fortunate me I discovered your site accidentally, and I’m shocked why this coincidence didn’t
happened earlier! I bookmarked it.
